Water softeners are used to treat hard water as it enters your home.

Hardness in water (or scale, as it is often called) is caused by a build-up of naturally-occurring magnesium and calcium – and this furs up your pipework, shower, boiler, kettle and other appliances.

• Providing water that is kinder to your skin and hair. Softened water cannot claim to be a cure for conditions such as eczema and psoriasis, but customers have said it can help you live with it.
